Vacancy: Project Supervisor - Newmont Tanami Operations

Purpose
To provide leadership in the Execution of Project Construction, to deliver capital projects requiring construction elements to achieve expected outcomes as detailed in project justification. You will have demonstrated the ability to adapt and bring projects to successful completion whilst maintaining the highest standards. You will have qualifications in an engineering field at supervisory level.
Dimensions
This position impacts on all projects for Newmont Tanami Operations through the projects department and throughout all levels of the operation.
Capital budget: $ 15m - $28m PA

Directly : 0
Indirectly: 10-50 (dependant upon project)

Projects: - Contract Development, Contractor Labour and project procurement

Key Accountabilities
1) Project Management
Key responsibilities will be as follows:
• Provide leadership of the Construction Teams to deliver overall plan outcomes.
• Provide services and assistance to the stakeholders as required
• Carry out cost estimating on equipment required for projects
• Ensure all contractors, subcontractors and suppliers prepare and carry out their scope
• Have an overriding commitment to high safety standards
• Have excellent people management skills
• The role of the Supervisor Project Construction will also include providing visible safety
leadership for the department. This is to be achieved by workplace inspections, attendance atPASS meetings / safety meetings / Tool Box Talks, general contact with the work groups and
by monitoring compliance with systems.
• Contribute to and coordinate projects and job specific, risk analysis for major aspects of the
projects
o Coordinate the work scopes of all projects from the stakeholders
o Prepare and consolidate a master schedule and individual programs
o Prepare budgets and monitor during project execution
o Prepare scope of work documentation and technical specification for the tender of the
physical work to be executed for the project
o Have good people management skills
2) Project Planning
With the assistance of the Project Scheduler you will initiate all parts, materials and resourcesfor projects on site and provide support for the projects department as required through screening, interviewing and acknowledging contractor’s applications With the assistance of the Projects Administration, coordinate booking accommodation and arranging flight schedules with the flight booking office on site.
3) Reporting and Compliance
• Ensure all NTO required reporting is completed accurately and delivered on time,
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports. These reports will then be integrated into the overall
capital report.
• Report and present key performance indicators set by Manager – Projects.
• Be accountable for the quality of work output through an ongoing monitoring and audit process
for the project area on site
4) Business Improvement

Seek to continually improve the project services by identifying through analysis areas for improvement to ensure practices are cost effective and efficient. Implement and manage the business improvement initiatives through constant review of processes and procedures to ensure best practice involve the project team on site
• Contributing to the development of the Capital Execution Strategy to achieve plan targets on a
monthly, annual and a long term basis.
• Assist other nominated Project Construction Supervisors to deliver projects to achieve the
nominated outcomes, on schedule and within budget.

• Intervene where necessary to ensure that non conformities are corrected and if necessary recommend system changes/ improvements to the Superintendent Engineering Construction.
• Implement system changes as authorised by the Manager and monitor outcomes.
• Contribute to the project risk management process by assisting with identification of risks and

implement plans to manage the risks allocated to capital projects.
Constraints, Framework & Boundaries
- The Project Supervisor reports directly to the Superintendent Engineering Construction and must obtain approval for the following:
- Policy and procedure updates
- All leave requests
- All purchases and requisition in Ellipse
The Project Manager advises on all Project related issues in conjunction with the management team on site.
Challenges
• To ensure correct advice is provided to leaders in line with legislative and NTO requirements
• Provide the continuity of service given limited resources in periods of absence as per nature of a FIFO operation
• Ensure integrity of the project function
• To constantly seek to raise the profile of NTO and projects dept around the operation by continually seeking out opportunities for positive change Working Conditions/Environment
• This position is located at the Tanami Operations 550km NNW of Alice Springs – it is Australia’s most remote mine site
• Working hours are from 6am – 6pm, the FIFO Roster is 9/5
• This salary takes into account all hours worked including public holidays that are a normal part of the roster
• On-site accommodation and messing are provided at company expense

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Education & Experience:
• Degree or related qualification in Engineering, or Construction Management plus 6 years minimum experience or relevant Trades Qualification
• Demonstrated supervisory and cost control experience
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of the underlying principals of Project Management
• Research experience, including competency using the Internet for this purpose
• Understand the nature of the FIFO employment and able to adjust lifestyle accordingly
Skills & Abilities:
• Excellent ability to communicate (orally, writing and reading) in English
• Excellent information technology skills, in the Microsoft suite
• Ability to think strategically, to express ideas clearly, good analytical and problem solving skills
• Sound people and administrative skills
• To manage time effectively, be task orientated and able to set goals
• High attention to detail whilst maintaining an organisational perspective
• Able to show initiative and have the ability to work independently
