THE ASEAN SECRETARIAT INVITES ASEAN NATIONALS TO APPLY FOR THE FOLLOWING VACANCY SENIOR OFFICER PUBLIC OUTREACH & CIVIL SOCIETY The ASEAN Secretariat is currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Senior Officer, Public Outreach & Civil Society Division who will work under the Community Affairs Development Directorate, Community & Corporate Affairs Department. This Division is to plan and implement the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC)’s media and public relations /communications activities (including the ASEAN Web, social media , publications, photos and videos), and manage internal ASEC communications. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Coordinate communication programmes/plan Write/Edit media release, news bulletin, articles and speeches. Disseminate news to the media, manage/update media contact list, and maintain good media relations. Provide inputs and monitor the ASEAN web and social media . Identify high-profile/targeted opportunities (including press conferences) and arrange media queries and/or request for interviews with SG, DSG and Directors. Monitor/Analyze/Report on media coverage. 2. Coordinate events organised by the ASEAN Secretariat Plan and coordinate events with internal and external parties. Manage event logistics with Administration and Protocol Division. 3. Coordinate activities and provide required support for the implementation and monitoring of programmes and/or projects Manage and implement agreed programmes as schedule. Coordinate planned projects with Member States. 4. Review Publication and articles produced by the ASEAN Secretariat Review all publications in accordance with the publication guidelines. Review all articles which will be published at the ASEAN Website. Manage production of ASEAN Annual Report. Requirements: At least six (6) years corporate communications experience covering journalism/media relations management, major regional/international events, and outreach activities through traditional and digital means in a regional/international/multilateral setting. Postgraduate Degree in Mass/Public Communications, Journalism, Public/International Relations or related fields. Demonstrated skills in problem solving, planning and the development of policies and procedures. Experience in motivating staff and working effectively with people at all levels of the organisation. Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices. Proven ability to conduct both formal and on the job training, and identify professional/technical development staff goal. Possess a broad spectrum of interpersonal and communications skills, including excellent written and spoken English, in cross-cultural/international settings. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders and the media. Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook where relevant to the position. Excellent command of English, written and spoken. Proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines. Remuneration and Benefits: Successful candidate will be offered the post with a probation period of six months and monthly salary starting from USD 2,900. There are other applicable benefits which include housing, medical, education of dependent children, and gratuity. Upon completion of the probationary period, the candidate will be confirmed for up to threeyear contract, inclusive of the six-month probationary period, in the first instance.
