Job: Manager, Special Youth Programs and Partnerships

Free The Children is the largest network of children helping children through education in the world. Free The Children seeks a Manager of Youth Programming and Partnerships who will support in the management of various youth programming partnerships, and the oversight of special youth programs and staff. The youth programming and partnerships department develops and implements innovative programming that engages youth in learning about important social issues and taking action (raising funds and awareness), in partnership with school boards and educational organizations, in support of Free The Children’s dual mandate of domestic youth empowerment and community development overseas, as well as other local issues.

A minimum two-year commitment is required, with salary commensurate of experience. There is a six month probation period and upon completion of a three month period, all staff members are offered a health plan (including dental) and Employee Assistant Program. The position is based out of Free The Children’s International office in Toronto (233 Carlton Street).

If invited for an interview, candidates will interview twice (on average): once with Human Resources and Director of Youth Programming; secondly with our Executive Director. At times, this may amount to three separate interviews.

Responsibilities:
The Manager of Special Youth Programs and Partnerships will report to, and consult with, the Director and Associate Director of Youth Programming and Partnerships. Responsibilities include:

  • Ongoing relationship management of educational partners, which includes: Development and execution of partnership pathways, Writing and delivering reports to a variety of external stakeholders, Daily communication and updates to partners, and regular attendance at meetings, Monitoring progress and quality of relationship management plans, Working with internal teams to leverage partnership opportunities
  • Oversight of various special youth programs (such as Global Voices and Adobe Youth Voices), which includes: Developing program plans with program coordinators, and monitoring progress and quality of execution, Overseeing a team of two program coordinators, Consultation on strategic planning for each special program Quality control over all documents and materials
Other:
• Assist in the coordination of special events
• Tasks in support of We Day event execution
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in International Relations, Political Science, Business and/or possess a diploma or certificate in project management or equivalent education
  •  One to two years of relevant professional experience an asset
  •  Demonstrated passion for global issues
  • Excellent organizational and inter-personal skills for communicating with external parties
  • Demonstrated experience and/or ability to deliver on several programs, happening simultaneously
  • Experience managing people in a small team
  • Highly self-motivated, independent and strategic thinker
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated flexibility and initiative, particularly when faced with challenges
  • Ability to time-manage and multi-task in a demanding and fast-paced work environment
  • Positive and professional attitude and ability to work as a team player both with all levels of management
  • Demonstrated flexibility and initiative, particularly when faced with challenges
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suites (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
