Sudan Job: Health Supervisor

Summary of Role: Working as part of a multidisciplinary team the Health Supervisor will provide clinical supervision and support to GOALs Health programmes in a variety of locations in Sudan. He/She will be responsible for ensuring that the provision of clinical care and community health activities are being implemented to a satisfactory level and will provide suggestions and practical support to improve quality as required. The Health Supervisor will work closely with the Health Coordinator to ensure that programme quality and standards of service of being maintained.

This role will be based on 6 months probation and the Health Supervisor may be moved to a variety of field sties in the country program to gain experience as directed by Country Health Coordinator. However it is expected that they will spend at least a minimum of 3 months in each location.

Duties/Responsibilities: 1.Update the Clinic Manager on the condition and status of clinic supplies (drugs and medical equipment) or other needs that may arise on a monthly basis. 2.Supervise and support health staff in health facilities as directed by Health Coordinator 3.Assist with planning and implementation of training for GOAL staff, health workers and other groups as required 4.Compile weekly and monthly mortality and morbidity data and submits reports of the health program 5.Analyse health data and provide summary report on any trends or issues emerging from data which needs to be addressed by Health Coordinator 6.Assist with planning and implementation of quantitative community surveys such as the MICS and or qualitative research as required 7.Ensure that clinic/service registers are being maintained in an orderly fashion in health facilities and provide on the job training and support to improve this. 8.Report any issues with clinic staff or problems at health facility level to Health Coordinator and jointly develop a plan to respond to the issue. 9.Undertake clinic exit interviews to ascertain satisfaction with services and assist in completion of routine clinic audits as required. 10.Ensure that drug consumption in health facilities is being correctly monitored and that staff are adhering to relevant prescribing guidelines 11.Ensure that nutrition services such as OTP are being managed in line with minimum standards. 12.Participate in facilitation of the relationship with the local community members and leaders and the Ministry of Health.
Requirements: 1.Primary degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Medicine or similar health related role 2.At least 2 years post graduate work experience in area of degree 3.Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team. 4.Good working knowledge of English (written and verbal) 5.IT skills –Word, Excel 6.Willing to work in a resource poor and isolated environment
Desirable 7.Previous experience working overseas in a health setting 8.Further qualification in tropical health or community health 9.French or another foreign language. 10.Experience of conducting community research and or monitoring and evaluation
