Project Coordinator – Development Marketplace Investment Platform Project

The Development Marketplace Program (DM) is a grants program located in the Innovation Practice Unit of the World Bank Institute. DM assists non-state Social Enterprises scale financially viable projects that supply public goods and services to the poor. Social Enterprises use DM grants to build organizational capacity and connect with suppliers of growth finance. DM is expanding its existing operations. It seeks to recruit a dynamic professional as a Project Coordinator to be based in Washington, DC. This is a 3-year renewable term appointment.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage outreach to funders interested in funding social enterprises that are at early growth take-off stage.
Incorporate social impact and risk-return requirements of funders into DM initiatives.
Guide Social Enterprises seeking to connect with providers of growth finance.
Keep abreast with financial engineering technologies and best practices in financing of social enterprises.
Selection Criteria:

Candidates should have an advanced post-graduate degree and at least 10 years of experience in funding or advising start-ups; preferably in Venture Capital Companies or in Social Investment Funds with focus on Emerging Market Economies, with good understanding of the business and financial dynamics of Social Enterprises; preferably in South Asia or East Africa or the Middle East. The candidate should have experience in working with a range of multi-country stakeholders.
