UNODC PROJECT ASSOCIATE (FOR INDONESIAN NATIONALITY ONLY)

I. Organizational Context

UNODC is a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international crime. Established in 1997, UNODC operates in all regions of the world through an extensive network of field offices.
UNODC’s Jakarta Project Office works in partnership with Government of  Indonesia and civil society to implement activities in a number of critical areas including HIV/AIDS, anti-corruption, crime prevention, judicial integrity, law enforcement, illegal logging, and the recovery of stolen public assets. 
UNODC seeks to recruit a professional that will support the implementation of projects within UNDOC’s anti-corruption portfolio in Indonesia.   These projects involve the provision of specialized anti-corruption training to strengthen the operational, technical and coordination capabilities of key institutions mandated to investigate and prosecute corruption cases. It also involves the provision of small grants to civil society to combat corruption and support to the Government of Indonesia’s national anti-corruption strategy. In addition, UNODC is working with Indonesia to combat illegal logging and to address governance issues within the forestry sector.
Under the direct supervision of UNODC’s Country Manager and Project Coordinator of anti-corruption projects, the Project Associate will be responsible for delivering and facilitating project activities. 
 
II. Functions/Key Results Expected
Summary of Key Functions:
-  Support to implementation of operational strategies
-  Support to management of assigned projects
-  Facilitation of effective working relationships with project stakeholders
-  Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing
1. As the Project Associate, ensure implementation of operational strategies, focusing on achievement of the following results:
-  Coordinate the implementation of the projects in accordance with  work plans with a view to ensuring high quality outputs
-  Support the administrative set up of the activities, recruitment of staff and consultants and subcontracting of services
-  Prepare required budget revisions, revision of project award and project status
-  Support the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation processes, coordinate project review meetings and contribute to project reporting
-  Prepare and draft a variety of written outputs that relate to the implementation of the project, such as background and research papers, progress reports, evaluation reports, mission reports, briefings and presentations
-  Carry out such other tasks as assigned by the Project Coordinator
2. Ensures effective stakeholder relationships are established and maintained, focusing on achievement of the following results:
-  Establish effective relations with stakeholders and provide guidance to the partners on project implementation
-  Conduct/participate in coordination meetings, forums and other relevant events and keep abreast of issues in the areas of UNODC support
-  Promote the overall project strategy, objectives and activities to the stakeholders
3. Ensures that project reporting is of high quality and meets needs of project stakeholders, focusing on achievement of the following results:
-  Consolidate project progress reports (quarterly and annual/financial and substantive) against set targets and indicators, with an analysis of evidence of progress towards planned outputs according to schedules, budgets, and inputs provided by the project`
-  Ensure that reporting obligations and other obligations towards the donors, implementing partners and other stakeholder are fulfilled in a timely manner
4. Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing within UNODC and amongst stakeholders, focusing on achievement of the following results:
-  Participation in workshops, seminars, training course and meetings as a resource person
-  Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice

III. Impact of Results
The key results have a direct impact on the quality of overall project implementation and management. Project implementation in line with the objectives of the projects and UNODC strategic objectives is critical to ensure achievement of UNODC Country Programme outcomes. Good quality programming effectively supports Indonesia’s development agenda and promotes UNODC’s reputation as an effective contributor to the development of the country.

V. Recruitment Qualifications
Education:
University degree in criminology, law, social sciences or equivalent academic training or work experience.
Experience:
At least 4 years experience working in a Government, bilateral or multilateral agency or NGO relating to Judiciary, or justice sector, governance or community development
Technical requirements: Knowledge of the field of anti-corruption and previous UN work experience is an added advantage
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia with good report writing and presentation skills are a requirement
